As one of Canada’s preeminent classical saxophonists, Tristan De Borba is quickly gaining a reputation as an innovative and engaging musician, with a versatility and sensitive musicianship. Tristan has performed in major venues across Canada and internationally.
Tristan has been engaged as a soloist, chamber musician, pedagogue and conductor throughout North America and as far away as Greece. As a soloist, Tristan has performed with ensembles ranging from the Etobicoke Philharmonic Orchestra to the wind ensembles of the University of Toronto, British Columbia, and Acadia University with additional performances with various youth ensembles throughout the Maritimes including the Nova Scotia Youth Wind Ensemble. An active freelance musician, Tristan has performed with ensembles across Canada, most notably: Symphony Nova Scotia, Opera Nova Scotia, Scotia Winds, Stadacona Band of the Royal Canadian Navy and is a member of the Brogue Saxophone Quartet.
Recently Tristan de Borba was a featured guest artist at the 2014 Scotia festival of music performing chamber works by Andreissen, Schulhoff, Webern as well as Milhaud’s La Création du Monde with the Scotia festival orchestra conducted by Johannes Debus.
As a pedagogue, Tristan is on faculty at Acadia University, where he runs an ever-expanding saxophone class. Tristan has given masterclasses at Mount Allison University, University of Toronto and is a regular clinician at the Atlantic Band Festival.
