Ardith Haley is passionate about music education and has spent a lifetime working with others through teaching and conducting in a multitude of settings. A recipient of the Canadian Music Educators’ Association Jubilate Award of Merit for significant contributions to music education in Canada, she creates learner-centred environments to establish the best possible conditions to assist each student in realizing their goals and maximizing their success. She is the co-founder and program leader of the Master’s Degree in Curriculum Studies with a Focus on Music Education at Acadia, which has attracted seven graduate cohorts to date. Students from all over Canada and five foreign countries have graduated from this exceptional program.
In addition to teaching part-time at Acadia, Ardith is the Arts Education Consultant with the province of Nova Scotia where she is responsible for dance, drama, music, and visual arts educational programming and hasguided the development and implementation of innovative and exciting new arts curricula for Nova Scotia’sschools, grades P-12. As well, she is actively engaged across Canada and around the world serving in a variety of leadership roles. She makes frequent trips to Singapore to work with the Ministry of Education in its quest to implement music and arts pedagogies that nurture 21st century competencies. Most recently, she is training and assisting lead curriculum writers in various international locations with integrating visual and performing arts in primary curriculum and supporting development of arts courses in secondary curriculum. With Music Mentors International partner, Dr. Dale Lonis, she has co-authored several music education resources and mentored music educators around the globe.
