A native of Jeddore, Nova Scotia, Canadian pianist Cindy Thong has received 1st prizes at the NSRMTA Competition, the Halifax Kiwanis Festival Rose Bowl, the FMFNS Provincial Music Festival and the NSYO Concerto Competition. She has also been a prizewinner and finalist in the FCMF National Music Festival, the CFMTA National Piano Competition, the Concours Hélène-Roberge, the Concours Prix d’Europe and the Canadian Music Competition. Additionally, she was also the recipient of the 2009 Debut Atlantic Award for Musical Excellence as well as the 2018 Tietje Zonnfeld Award from the Nova Scotia Talent Trust.

Having performed in Canada, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Spain and Italy, she has most recently offered recitals as part of the Orford Music Festival as well as the l’Oasis Musicale, Music at Grace, Merry Musical and Music for an Afternoon Series. As an orchestral pianist, Cindy has also collaborated with the McGill Wind Orchestra and l'Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in Switzerland.

Additionally, having participated in numerous master classes throughout North America and Europe – notably at the Gijón International Piano Festival, the Wiener Musikseminar, the Euro Music Festival, the Banff Centre, the Orford Arts Centre and the Domaine Forget International Music Academy – Cindy has worked closely with artists such as Robert MacDonald, Jacques Rouvier, Bernd Goetzke, Dang Thai Son, Stephen Kovacevich, Ronan O’Hora, Marc Durand, Benedetto Lupo, Alexander Kobrin, Evelyne Brancart, Jean Saulnier, Richard Raymond, and Dalton Baldwin, among others.
