On Thursday, November 5, the Acadia School of Music's Concert & Lecture Series presents “The Body in Performance: (re)mapping movement through Body Mapping” – a talk by Camila Oliveira. Body Mapping is an educational approach for musicians based on the premise that freedom, efficiency, and comfort in performance begin with an understanding of the body. By exploring anatomical structures, movement, and coordination, musicians can develop awareness of physical organization and recognize unnecessary tension, compensatory patterns, and movement restrictions that may affect performance and contribute to playing-related injuries. This workshop introduces fundamental Body Mapping principles through experiential activities connecting anatomical awareness to music making. This recital will begin at 1:00pm in the Festival Theatre. Concert & Lecture Series events are free and all are welcome to attend – please join us and support our student performers! |
