On Thursday, October 29, the Acadia School of Music Concert & Lecture Series presents “Pediatric Music Therapy: Experiences from the Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre” – a talk by Susan LeMessurier Quinn, MMA and MMT. As the only music therapist at the Janeway Susan’s days are filled with a variety of acute care and outpatient experiences with children and youth ages 0-18. The morning may begin with creating regulating music for a baby on NICU. The day may end in expressive song-writing with a youth in outpatient psychiatry. This work helps Susan to recognize the unique privilege and honour she has in being a part of one of the most vulnerable times in a patient's life. This presentation will share some of these special moments through stories, case examples, and gained knowledge.
