Sisters on Screen Film Festival
On Wednesday, November 22, The Sisters on Screen Film Festival presents a screening of "Lady Sings the Blues" in the KCIC Auditorium.
Diana Ross brilliantly portrays the rise and fall of legendary Jazz singer, Billie Holiday. This noteworthy biopic gives a compelling account of the life of the great Lady Day - and is a fascinating study in biography. Please note that "Lady Sings the Blues" is rated "R" and is recommended for mature audiences only. It contains scenes depicting sexual violence, substance abuse, racial slurs and violence, and mature language.
The Sisters On Screen Film Festival is an educational film series dedicated to women in music! Each film will begin with a pre-screening talk prepared by the students of MUSI 4283 (Women In Music).
Admission to the festival is by freewill donation. Donations raised will go toward creating a scholarship to support a female student’s attendance at one of Acadia’s summer music programs. The presentation plus movie will be about 2 hours and 40 minutes in duration.
