Acadia School of Music's Concert & Lecture Series presents Creative Collaboration in Contemporary Music.

The Alkali Collective welcomes composer Paolo Griffin and percussionist Nathan Petitpas for a round-table presentation on collaboration in contemporary music. This 45-minute presentation offers insight into the intersections of performance, composition, and collective artistry, while featuring a short performance excerpt from Griffin and Petitpas’s ongoing creative work. Students and community members alike are invited to engage with this discussion on the collaborative spirit of new music.

The Acadia University Singers are a treble-voice chamber choir, directed by Dr. Michelle Boyd.  The program will feature soloists Bailey Pringle, Hermione Marshall, Kyla Neville, and Maria Zimmermann, and soloist/conductor Emma Proctor.

Need an uplifting boost to kickstart your holiday mood?  Yearning to find solace immersed in the beauty of poignant poetry merged with song? Or, longing to make your spirit soar with joyful, feel-good music?  Whatever you're seeking, come as you are and find your heart's content in “Our Soul Is Song" - a concert by the Acadia University Singers.

Featuring a blend of words and music both ancient and modern, "Our Soul Is Song" explores the power of song to refresh the soul as it unites people across time and space - bringing joy in the midst of darkness, peace and healing in times of sorrow, and fortitude and resolve when it is needed the most.

At the heart of this program will be a performance of Benjamin Britten's Ceremony of Carols, a beloved classic for choir and harp that breathes new life into ancient Medieval carol texts through Britten's intricate choral writing.  Complementing the carols' timeless message of seeking light and hope, the choir will also perform new works by Canadian composers Katerina Gimon, Ruth Watson-Henderson, Tracy Wong, and more.
