On Thursday, March 19, the Acadia School of Music Concert & Lecture Series presents a recital recognizing women’s creativity and music-making throughout the centuries.  

This recital, which will feature both faculty and student performers, is the first of two events that will continue the themes of reflection, advocacy, and celebrating women’s achievement that were ignited earlier in the month on International Women’s Day.   

We invite you to join us to listen, learn, and be inspired by stories, texts, and the music of Clara Schumann, Joni Mitchell, Rita MacNeil, Maya Angelou, some of our very own student composers, and more! 

This event begins at 1:00pm in FESTIVAL THEATRE.

Join Hermione Marshall for her graduation recital on Saturday, March 28th at 3pm in Harvey Denton Hall Auditorium! This performance highlights years of dedication and hard work, and we are so excited to share this special event. The performance includes Mary Castello, as collaborative pianist, and also features Nic d’Amato, Rebecca Czerny, Emma Garde, and Nathan Grosset.

The program will feature a diverse selection of music performed by student vocalists and instrumentalists, accompanied by our AUSOM faculty collaborative pianist, Mary Castello.  

The recital will begin at 1:00 pm in Denton Hall.

Acadia School of Music presents BLOOM, a Playing & Hearing Music concert in Festival Theatre.

This fundraising concert is in support of the Jane Paul Indigenous Women's Resource Centre.

Concert is on Tuesday, April 7th at 7:00 pm.

Acadia University’s Young Composers Workshop is a one-day intensive for young musicians aged 13 to 18 who are interested in writing original music. Hosted by the Acadia University School of Music (AUSOM), this hands-on experience introduces students to the creative process of composition through workshops, improvisation, personalized guidance, peer discussion, and a masterclass with a university composition professor and Juno Nominated composer, Peter-Anthony Togni, offering students insight into university-level composition study and professional perspectives on developing their musical ideas.

This workshop is ideal for young musicians who are curious about composition or looking to strengthen their creative skills in a supportive and collaborative environment. Prior composition experience is welcome but not required.

The day will include:

- 4 Group composition workshop sessions

- Independent composing time in practice rooms

- 1:1 feedback with instructors - Guided peer listening and collaborative feedback session

- Masterclass with Peter-Anthony Togni

- Access to campus facilities and creative spaces

What to bring:

- Your instrument

- Packed lunch or cash for Subway

- Device with notation software (optional)

NOTE: Notation software is not necessary for this workshop. If you choose to use it at the workshop, please come with prior experience
