Acadia Singers - Singing IN Flanders Fields (7:00 pm)

The Singing IN Flanders Fields Project is a research-based
performance project and concert tour to the WWI battlefields of France
and Belgium to commemorate the anniversary of Lt. Col. John McCrae’s
“In Flanders Fields”. The Acadia University Singers are travelling to
Arras, France and then to Ypres, Belgium (where the poem was written),
from April 24 to May 3, 2024 – literally to sing in Flanders Fields!
The choir is also collaborating with Acadia archivist Wendy Robicheau,
whose Adopt-a-Soldier program is revitalizing the stories of Acadia
student soldiers who served in WWI. The choir will visit and sing at the
gravesites of some of Acadia’s soldiers buried in France and Belgium.
This long-awaited tour was originally scheduled for the spring of 2020
to commemorate the poem’s 105th anniversary; now, the tour will
commemorate its 109th with concerts on April 29 in Arras, France, and
May 2 (the anniversary date) in Ypres, Belgium.

Please join us for our tour launch concerts in Nova Scotia:
* April 19 at St. John’s Anglican Church, Lunenburg
* April 20 at Denton Hall Auditorium, Wolfville
Both concerts begin at 7:00pm. Admission is by freewill donation.
